REVIEW: Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter

Brand: Revlon
Item: Colourburst Lip Butter
Price: £7.99

After hearing the lovely Jen of Frmheadtotoe and several other bloggers on my read list raving about this new magical lip thing from Revlon, I was pretty excited to see it arrive on British shores. Note to readers: despite it's slightly deceptive "lip butter" moniker, I would not class these as lipcare products (unlike the Korres Lip Butters, reviewed here)! These are DEFINITELY, definitely lipsticks.

REVIEW: Pantene Pro V Split End Serum

Brand: Pantene
Item: Split End Serum
Price: £5

My lion mane was going through a bit of a rough patch awhile ago, becoming dry and tangled from all the hot irons I'd been abusing it with. Got this to help with moisturising my hair and preventing future split ends.

Now mind you, NOTHING can cure split ends. No amount of oiling and seruming will unsplit split ends. You have to go get a haircut to cut off all the damaged hair, then focus on moisturising your hair so that as it re-grows, it won't split again. Also, having a healthy balanced diet means your new growing hair gets all the nutrients it needs.

REVIEW: Save The Nail Eau So Hydrated base coat & 45-second top coat

Brand: Save The Nail
Item: Eau So Hydrated base coat & 45-second top coat
Price: £6.95 each from Boots

Before I got these STN top and base coats, my first and only top coat was the Deborah Lippmann "On a Clear Day" top coat.

I used to think that it was perfectly normal for manicures to take hours to dry. I'd paint my nails 2 hours before bed, wait for it to be dry to the touch (1.5 hours later) and go to bed hoping I can sleep like Dracula, not moving. Always in the morning, I would wake up with bed sheet indentations or smudge-dents all over my new manicure. BLAST & DAMNATION! Well, not anymore!

At the time of purchase, there didn't seem to be much information at all about the Save the Nail brand. All I managed to find out that it was developed as a lower price point, more affordable sister brand of the Nails Inc polishes.

REVIEW: Skin79 BB Creams

Brand: Skin79
Item: VIP Gold, Diamond Collection, Super Beblesh Balm Triple Functions
Price: ~£11 (miniature set from PrettyandCute.com)

If you're any kind of a beauty fanatic, you might have heard some murmurings about BB creams by now. BB creams are a major trend coming over from Korea & Japan, a beauty product that is kind of like a mix between skincare, foundation and a tinted moisturiser. The lovely Jen from Frmheadtotoe.com has done a long post and video about BB Creams.

As a quick primer, BB creams are meant to be a multipurpose base product. You can use it as a foundation primer, tinted moisturiser, or as a light to medium coverage base in place of foundation. If you're normal to oily skinned, I would recommend using this alone without any moisturisers (or with only a light hydrating serum), as most BB Creams are designed to serve the moisturising purpose too. Unless you have dry skin, using BB creams over your usual heavy duty moisturiser = Oil Spill Shiny City. Also, despite the fact that it is touted to have skincare properties, you DO have to remove this at the end of the day like you would any other makeup product.

The downside of BB creams is that being designed by AZN companies for an AZN market, most of them tend to be for AZN skin tone ranges. As a result, you'll find that most BB creams only cover that NC10-25 spectrum (very fair to fair). So for you deliciously tanned or dark-skinned, sorry, is unlikely you'll find a BB cream suitable for you.
